Saving coffee grounds from incineration

rotterzwam provides coffee grounds collection services for organizations in the Rijnmond region. We also offer this service in partnership with ge-zwam; versfabriek and Pantar in the regions of The Hague, Arnhem/Nijmegen, and Amsterdam. Watch the short video below (2 minutes) to get a feel for our activities, and read more about how we save coffee grounds from incineration and how we help our clients internalize their waste management costs.

The circular economy only works if there's sufficient demand for products made from waste streams. You can especially help us if, in addition to offering the coffee grounds, you'd also like to purchase one of our oyster mushroom products. Think of our delicious bitterballen (bitterballen) or mini sausage rolls with drinks. Or a croquette or sausage roll during lunch in the company restaurant.

Making an impact, that's what Rotterzwam does. We now save over 40 tons of coffee grounds from incineration each year, some of which is transformed into delicious oyster mushrooms.

And that inspires people and earns us a fair amount of media attention . From newspaper articles to television segments. Worldwide. The result: increased awareness of sustainability, the circular economy, and the value of waste.

We can achieve that impact within your organization too. That's why we have an approach that combines coffee grounds collection with an awareness campaign for management, employees, and clients.

But we're also looking further afield. For example, in our " Back to the Soil " project, we conducted an experiment in recent years with partners including Wageningen University and the Louis Bolk Institute to investigate the effect of coffee grounds on soil. You can view the results here .
