rotterzwam supplies mushroom growing units to the Clique

Rotterzwam is supplying three mushroom growing units to De Clique. De Clique is a Utrecht-based startup that uses coffee grounds, peels, and food waste from businesses as a growing medium for new products.

rotterzwam has been growing mushrooms in an urban environment since 2013. From 2013 to 2017, we did so in the former Tropicana swimming pool. Since 2019, our nursery has been located at Schiehaven 26. There, we grow mushrooms on coffee grounds and straw in eight converted reefer containers.

In early 2020, Clique approached us to ask if we could help them set up a nursery in Utrecht on a scale comparable to the rotterzwam nursery in Rotterdam.

Based on the lessons learned over the past few years, we've further developed our mobile mushroom cultivation unit. This has resulted in a climate wall suitable for cultivating mushrooms and mycelium.

Mushroom cultivation
Growing mushrooms requires specific conditions in a grow room. Fresh air, temperature, and humidity are all important factors. You essentially need a space that can simulate autumn.

Mark Slegers of rotterzwam explains: "We've combined all our expertise in growing space climate control into a completely new design. The result is a highly flexible climate wall that can be installed in various types of spaces."

The rotterzwam climate wall can easily be slid into a shed, warehouse, or insulated space and used there to facilitate mushroom cultivation. We offer the climate wall for €14,499 each. This price excludes VAT, transport, and on-site installation, and is subject to inflation on materials.

Turnkey delivery
De Clique opted for a turnkey delivery. We took care of everything from start to finish. Steven Keulemans of De Clique explains: "Rotterzwam's extensive experience in this field gave us the confidence to order three growing units. There are plans to order five more units."

This price excludes VAT, transport, and on-site installation, and is subject to inflation on materials.
