Want to surprise your guests with a delicious vegetarian snack? Then this oyster mushroom tempura is a must-try. It's often found in Japanese cuisine in various variations. You don't need a deep fryer for this oyster mushroom tempura!

Ingredients

150 grams of (small) oyster mushrooms
150 grams of flour
¼ tsp salt
2.5 dl cold sparkling water
Sunflower oil
Red pepper
Soy sauce

Preparation method

  1. Combine the flour and salt, then add the sparkling water. Mix until a batter forms.
  2. Place the oyster mushrooms in the batter.
  3. Heat the sunflower oil in a wok.
  4. When the oil is heated, add the oyster mushrooms. Fry them for 2 to 3 minutes until crispy and lightly browned.
  5. Drain the oyster mushrooms on some kitchen paper.
  6. Cut the red pepper into thin rings and mix with the soy sauce.
  7. Serve the oyster mushroom tempura with the soy sauce.
