The impact of rot fungus in 2022

De impact van rotterzwam in 2022

In 2022, we're seeing a significant increase in the amount of coffee grounds again. Our business clients are increasingly back in the office.

Fortunately, we've been able to use more and more coffee grounds for growing oyster mushrooms again. However, we do notice a difference compared to the pre -COVID period.

The coffee grounds are increasingly moldy when we collect them from our customers. It seems as if the machines aren't being cleaned as thoroughly or emptied as often.

Because we have scaled up our production process, the chance of a small infection causing a larger batch to fail has increased.

For the time being, we will continue to purchase external straw substrate in addition to the coffee grounds, so that we can always supply mushrooms.

The fossil fuel emissions relate to the fact that we had to temporarily hire a replacement bus and attend a foreign meeting, which required flying.

Own generation of electricity.

Our solar panels haven't quite been able to generate enough electricity to cover our own needs. We also have to charge our vans outside occasionally.

Ultimately, we managed to save almost 70 tons of coffee grounds from incineration.

Our footprint in 2022 will ultimately amount to a negative footprint of

- 23,639 kg CO2eq.

A result that we are once again proud of.

Awards

We were nominated for 2 awards in 2022:

First of all, we made it into the top 5 in the world in the Enouriment category and, as a company, we received the Vegan Award 2022.
