The cost of collecting waste [and thus coffee grounds] is rising annually, with ever-increasing jumps. This cost increase is known as inflation, and is largely due to the monetary policies of the world's central banks.
Voltaire once said : “ Paper money eventually returns to its intrinsic value – zero .” That is basically what we are witnessing today.
But this blog post is not about lessons on monetary policy, but about the annual cost increase for commercial waste collection.
We see the following storylines recurring to explain cost increases of 6% or more.
- Fuel prices are going through the roof
- Employees are better rewarded
- Road transport costs (NEA index) are increasing
This is different for rotterzwam's customers because
- Rotterzwam runs on 100% electric power, and we generate almost all of our own electricity using solar panels on our farm. In the footer of our website, you'll find a link to the current output generated by these 156 panels.
- Rotterzwam's staff are already well-compensated. We had their salaries benchmarked by Buro P&O, which also handles Rotterzwam's payroll administration.
- We use residual flows as input for our primary processes. Therefore, we are less susceptible to rising raw material prices.
That's why we're keeping our rates the same in 2022!
We can also organize a positive environmental impact for you at a stable rate. Together with a growing network of local processors, rotterzwam is working to achieve nationwide coverage for high-quality coffee grounds processing. Want to know more?
