The topic of " Reverse Burden of Proof for Companies " was recently in the news. A referendum is being prepared in Switzerland that will shift the burden of proof for violations of rights and regulations from victims to companies. We believe this is an excellent step in holding companies accountable whose business models cause environmental damage. We believe in companies with sound economic and ecological models. That's why we've been publishing our impact annually since 2017 .
Due to the coronavirus measures, our 2019 impact report took a little longer to arrive. But the result is impressive. It's the most comprehensive impact report we've ever produced. Our 2019 impact report includes a comprehensive textual explanation and some impressive visuals.
Download the full impact report and all visuals here.
The impact report is based on a 24-page document. In it, we outline the cumulative impact we've achieved since our inception. We also give meaning to the word "sustainable" by defining its scope. We also share our data collection over the past few years.
We are accountable for how our business activities have made a positive contribution to our society and our planet.
The second part of our impact report is the visualization shown alongside. It provides a short, concise overview of some of the indicators we track and are accountable for.
We believe in the power of open source. That's why this impact report is published under a Creative Commons license. More information about this can be found on page 2 of the impact report.
When examining these 2019 figures, it's important to realize that the nursery has only been operational since June 2019. We spent the first half of 2019 building our new nursery.
We are very proud that our business activities, after offsetting the remaining 7,242 tons of CO2 , fixed more CO2 in the soil in 2019 than was released into the atmosphere. This has made part of our dream, a CO2 -fixing mushroom farm, a reality.
We fixed 7,758 kilos of CO2 with our primary production process.
Part of this fixation is a paper offset through the purchase of Voluntary Emission Reductions (VERs), verified and approved by Gold Standard. The money we pay for VERs is invested in carbon-free projects to reduce emissions.
In the coming years, we will work to eliminate the need for this paper compensation [where possible], further investigate how we can involve suppliers and our raw materials in this process, and broaden our focus and further support national rollout.
The final important element is the communication we make to our clients, investors, enabling partners, and ambassadors. We report on SDGs 4, 7, 11, 12, and 15. Depending on how you connect with rotterzwam, you also contribute to these SDGs and can use them in your internal and external communications, as well as your annual report.
Rotterzwam has a funding requirement of €150,000 for the coming year. Would you like to invest in a company that's committed to the circular economy and reports transparently based on the SDGs? Would you like to facilitate the national rollout of our activities, where we use our innovations to help local entrepreneurs scale this concept? Then consider investing in Rotterzwam.

Beste mevrouw/meneer,
Alvast bedankt,
Daphne Nietfeld
